On the Day of Pentecost, one hundred twenty of Jesus Christ’s disciples had a profound experience with the Holy Spirit of God. As believers, they were already indwelt by the Spirit. Now on this day, they received an additional blessing from the Holy Spirit, a blessing of empowerment for living a life in the love of Jesus and sharing that love with others.

The disciples’ more powerful encounter with the Spirit on the Day of Pentecost is available to believers throughout the ages. This special experience is referred to as baptism in the Spirit, and the evidence of this baptism is the sign of speaking with other tongues, as the Spirit gives the utterance (Acts 2:1-4).
